Index Super Speciality Hospital achieved another milestone in advanced cardiac care by successfully treating a 16-year-old patient suffering from a 27 mm congenital heart defect (Atrial Septal Defect - ASD) through a highly advanced minimally invasive interventional cardiology procedure completed in just 20 minutes. The patient, belonging to a farmer’s family from a village near Khandwa, had been experiencing severe fatigue, breathlessness, weakness, palpitations, and recurrent fainting episodes for the past several months. Due to financial constraints, the family was unable to pursue timely treatment until they reached Index Super Speciality Hospital, where the procedure was performed completely free of cost under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
The procedure was successfully performed under the expert supervision of Dr. Sudeep Verma, who utilized cutting-edge catheter-based device closure technology as an alternative to conventional open-heart surgery. Through vascular access via the leg, a specialized ASD closure device and septal occluder were precisely deployed to seal the defect, eliminating the need for major surgical incision. This modern intervention ensured minimal trauma, significantly reduced risk of infection, shorter hospital stay, and faster post-procedure recovery. Dr. Verma emphasized that early diagnosis and timely intervention are critical, as untreated ASD can lead to serious complications affecting both cardiac and pulmonary function.
The patient is recovering remarkably well and has now been given the opportunity to lead a healthy and active life. Expressing gratitude, the patient’s family thanked the hospital management and medical team for restoring hope during a difficult time. Chairman Suresh Singh Bhadoria, Vice Chairman Mayankraj Singh Bhadoria, Medical Director Dr. Pawan Bambani, and Operation Manager Geetanjali Khedekar congratulated the cardiology and pediatric teams for this outstanding achievement, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to delivering world-class, accessible, and affordable healthcare services to every section of society.
