Lavi, a newborn weighing just 800 grams, born prematurely at a private nursing home in Indore, has been saved by the doctors at Index Hospital after 45 days of dedicated efforts. Lavi's weight has now increased to 1 kilogram and 700 grams.
Due to premature birth, the baby weighed only 800 grams. The baby's condition was critical at a private nursing home in Indore. Doctors referred the baby to Index Super Specialty Hospital and placed her in a warmer. Breast milk was essential to keep her alive, but she was also fed artificially. A team of doctors led by senior physician Dr. Shubhangi Mahashabde worked tirelessly to save her. The hard work and love of the NICU and hospital staff paid off. After 45 days, the doctors saved baby Lavi from the jaws of death with better treatment, and her family happily took her home.
Kept away from infection, weight now reaches 1 kilogram and 700 grams
Dr. Shubhangi Mahashabde said that the baby, weighing only 800 grams, was referred to Index Hospital from Sonkatch. Keeping Lavi alive was the biggest challenge. In the NICU unit, the baby was continuously given oxygen and kept completely away from infection, and all medical parameters were closely monitored. Simultaneously, through sonography, echocardiography, and intensive care, the baby was kept at the right temperature to help her develop. After 45 days, not only has the baby's weight now reached 1 kilogram and 700 grams, but she is also healthier than before. Index Group Chairman Suresh Singh Bhadoria, Vice Chairman Mayankraj Singh Bhadoria, Dean Dr. GS Patel, Medical Superintendent Dr. Swati Prashant, and Additional Director RC Yadav appreciated the doctor and NICU team.
Such cases increasing due to nutritional deficiencies in mothers
Dr. Shubhangi Mahashabde said that when Lavi was admitted to Index Hospital on June 8, the first thing they had to keep in mind was to prevent the baby from getting any infection. Along with this, they had to ensure that there was no problem in her brain, liver, or other organs. A special team was created in the NICU with a special focus on providing better nutrition through a CPAP machine. The entire team worked day and night to help Lavi get a new life. She said that cases of babies being born weighing 700 to 800 grams are being seen these days. This is due to nutritional deficiencies in mothers and premature delivery. She advised pregnant women to pay special attention to their diet, especially by getting regular check-ups. Dr. Amrita Loya, Dr. Priyanka Jain, PG Dr. Vishrang Patel, Dr. Jabi, Dr. Nivedita, Dr. Vipin, NICU in-charge Anil were part of the team along with Dr. Shubhangi Mahashabde.
